Overview
- Regional Staff Development Programme for the Racing Industry (RSDP)
The Regional Staff Development Programme (RSDP) provides regional and local education and training for stud and stable staff.
Removing barriers such as cost, time away from work and travel, the RSDP brings training to the workplace.
The vision is to create an experienced, motivated workforce that has access to opportunities to consistently develop themselves within their roles and provide career progression. By engaging with employers and industry staff we hope to create positive attitudes towards staff development, encouraging the benefits of continuous development and improvement leading to improving staff motivation, retention and standards of horsemanship in the industry.
The RSDP is an industry initiative, supported by central funding and the Racing Foundation. The National Horseracing College is commissioned by the British Horseracing Authority to manage the programme, in association with the British Racing School.
The RSDP consists of several elements including:
Regional Training Activities - a wide range of technical and life skills training from novice to advanced.
Work Rider Training - designed to improve the horsemanship knowledge and skills of those working with racehorses on a daily basis.
Rider Coaching Programme - providing senior staff with the coaching skills and qualifications to coach junior and less experienced staff.
