    About us

Support through the CATS service is tailored to each individual. The degree of support could mean anything from simply answering a question or providing information, through to careers coaching sessions. Support may include assistance with job applications and job searches; advice on CV writing and interview skills and making funding applications for training. You can also create your very own Professional Development Plan.

The service is accessed through Racing’s Support Line; Racing Welfare’s 24 hour telephone and online support service. After making initial contact, people wishing to use the service will have a CATS telephone session arranged for a day and time to suit them. A trained Advisor will then work alongside them to answer any questions they might have; assess their current situation and explore the options available.

    Professional Development Plan (PDP)

A PDP is a written document that will allow you to reflect on the skills and knowledge you already have and use in your current role and to plan ahead. It will guide you through a number of questions to help:

    - Explore your strengths and weaknesses

    - Discover your desired career path

    - Plan the next steps in reaching your career goals

The PDP has been designed for anyone who works in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industries. There are no unimportant roles in racing and every job requires vital skills which contribute towards the thrilling spectacle we all love. No matter what your role is, this plan can be used by you.
