    This two day Level 1 course provides groundsman with an introduction to the basic knowledge of racecourse maintenance. Develop, demonstrate, and apply the skills required to maintain, present and renovate the racing surface before, during and outside the racing season.

    This five day Level 2 course will demonstrate and apply the theory required to understand the science of racecourse grounds maintenance.

    • Health and safety requirements - the course
    • Rooting media and its construction Evaluation of nutrient analysis records
    • Assessment and identification for grass species
    • Pesticides available to assist in the maintenance

  • About the course:
    This three day Level 3 quantifies the supervisory and managerial skills required by the groundsman to manage and control the resources on the racecourse. Plus, demonstrate the management techniques and processes required by the groundsman to produce a safe and consistent racing surface.

    • Communication skills within the racecourse
    • Leadership within the grounds department
    • Management of major events
    • Legislation for tools and equipment
    • Funding availability for improvement
